Dog-like creatures that hunt in the woods of Penda's Slake. While they may be mistaken for dogs at a glance, these creatures transform into more monstrous figures with 'tree-like legs', 'faces split down the centre' and 'two long and winding jaws' once they start hunting. They specifically target The Elk of Birch and Bone but will hunt other living things as well. [1]
